Since nearly a decade being his initial rise to stardom, Reeves preferred to sleep in rented homes and hotels and lived on term resident of the Chateau Marmont. Reeves purchased his 1st house in the Hollywood Hills of City of the Angels about 2003, and also has an apartment on Central Park West in New York.

Reeves has ne’er been married. In December 1999, Reeves’ girlfriend Jennifer Syme birthed to a stillborn daughter who was named Ava Archer Syme Reeves. In April 2001, Syme was killed in a car accident. She was buried next to their daughter in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in City of the Angels, California. Though these events happened soon after the release of the first Matrix movie, he’s only once spoken about them publicly, saying that he doesn’t believe that things happen “for a reason.” He is been equally unwilling to speak about his sister Kim’s battle with leukemia.

Although in the past he’s expressed some interest in Buddhism Reeves has said, on his website, that: “I wasn’t raised in any special denominations and I haven’t acquired any so far.”
